Places to Visit in Uganda

Uganda was named the Pearl of Africa by Sir Winston Churchill because of a number of reasons. Her fantastic scenery is beyond imagination. Tourism in Uganda is growing. Every year the Pearl of Africa receives very many visitors who come to see the the county’s tourist attractions in several national parks

Uganda has 10 main national parks located in the eastern, northern, and western regions. Most of them are in the western region and they include;

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park where silver meets gold. It is the only national park in Uganda where mountain gorillas and golden monkeys can be tracked. The park also offers mountain climbing experiences to the visitors who are interested in hiking one of the three volcanic mountains.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is located in Kanungu District and is home to mountain gorillas and many birds.

Queen Elizabeth National Park which is popular for the tree climbing lions in the Ishasha Sector, the many hippos at the Kazinga Channel, and large herds of elephants as well as many prides of lions.

Rwenzori Mountains National Park, which offers exclusive trekking tours, and several endemic birds.

Kibale National Park, also known as the primate capital is home to the chimpanzees, monkeys, butterflies, birds, and trees.

Lake Mburo National Park is also a wonderful place to visit in the western region. It hosts animals such as the zebra, eland, giraffes, buffalo, and other antelopes. It is the only park with a whole lake in it.

Semuliki National Park also known as the birders’ paradise.

Murchison Falls National Park which hosts the most powerful waterfall in the world, the Murchison Falls.

Other Parks include; Kidepo Valley National Park in the northern region, and Mount Elgon National Park in the eastern part of the country.
