The introduction of a patrolling helicopter, a canine unit and effective rhino trackers which assist in monitoring the daily movements and safety of the animals has helped to put poaching in Akagera National Park to an end. In 2013 Rwanda Development Board completed a perimeter fence and it has played a very important role in protecting about 8,000 large animals that live in this park.
