Chimpanzees are delightful apes which are more closely related to human than any other living primates. They are very amazing to watch play in trees jumping from branch to branch as they make their calls. They like feeding on fruits and some forest bamboo shoots. There is a network of forest trails which provide outstanding experiences to botanists and butterfly lovers. For birders, Kibale National Park is a haven with 335 species of birds including the endemic Prirogrines Ground Thrush. Other animals found in Kibale National Park include the forest elephants which are described by their smaller sized and hairy bodies compared to those in the savannah parks, buffalo, giant forest hog, and a variety of antelope species.

Chimpanzee tracking in Kanyachu is the main tourist activity done in Kibale National Park. A guided nature walk in the tropical rain forest in search of the wild chimpanzee, will give you opportunity to see other primates such as red-tailed monkey, black-and-white colobus monkey, the grey-cheeked mangabey and many other primates will enhance your tracking experience.
