It is located in the extreme west of Uganda in Bundibugyo district on the border of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo in the Western Rift Valley.
Semuliki National Park sits on a gentle flat area of 220 square kilometers sharing eco system with DR Congo. The park is rich in both fauna and flora which form part of the forest continuum where the climate climatic upheavals of the Pleistocene are experienced. It is a birders paradise with 441 species of birds such as the Lyre-tailed Honey guide, Long-tailed Hawke, Black-wattle Hornbill and the Congo Serpent Eagle, which are not found anywhere else in East Africa. The park also hosts about 53 species of mammals such as monkeys, hippos which are common along River Semuliki, Crocodiles, among others.
Semuliki National Park is blessed with interesting scenery made up of tropical forests such as the Ituri of the Congo Basin and hot springs among other attractions not forgetting that it some local populations and tribes such as the Pigmy (Batwa) community who originated from the great Ituri forest call it home.

The hot spring (the male and the female) attract thousands of visitors both international and local every year. The history about their formation is interesting and the art of the oozing boiling water leaves many visitors in awe of nature. The water is hot (106 degrees Celsius) that it can boil eggs within a very short period of time
River Semuliki also offers visitors ample spots for Sport fishing.
The walks take you through the palm trees and other species sought after by botanists and give opportunities to encounter with birds and primates that live here.
About 441 species of birds have been recorded in Semuliki National Park which include 35 Guinea-Congo forest biome species and 23 Albertine Rift endemics
